511 Contra Costa is your 411 on commuter transportation
information for travel to, through, or from Contra Costa County. 511
Contra Costa provides trip planning services for commuters and
residents who would like to use public transportation. Staff will assist
you in finding the nearest Park-and-Ride lot, transit centers, figuring
out how many bus operators will it take to a get from one county to the
next, and more. For assistance with planning your commute or figuring
out how to get Aunt Mary from the foothills to Martinez (for example) on
public transportation call (925) 969-0841 x204.
Encouraging
motorists to use public transportation, share a ride, and cycle or walk
in stead of driving a car is an important element of the 511 Contra
Costa programs. Incentives are provided as a
"carrot" to entice single occupant motorists to try public
transit, share a ride, or cycle and walk to work, school, and
errands. Free gas cards are offered to commuters who will give
carpooling a try, free BART, train and bus tickets are offered to
commuters who will give public transportation a try, cash is given to
commuters who try vanpooling, and if that isn't enough, a Guaranteed Ride
Home will ensure that you won't be stranded without your beloved
car. Click here to read about
the commuter incentives you could be eligible for.
