International Walk to School Day

International Walk to School Day is Wednesday October 5, 2011. The event is aimed at bringing forth permanent change to encourage more walkable communities. By encouraging students to walk to school, schools and parents can promote student health and help decrease traffic congestion resulting in safer streets.

The following schools in Contra Costa are signed up to participate in International Walk to School Day 2011.

  • Walk to School Day banner
  • School-wide incentive of $300 (if over 50% of school population walks to school on event day)
  • Classroom incentive of $100 (classroom with highest percentage of walkers on event day)
