Looking to ride your bike but want some new ideas? We’ve got ‘em! Check out our list of cycling events which includes bike classes, social rides, group road rides, gran fondos, charity events and more!  Connect with local bicycle clubs and advocacy groups.

Want to up your game as a cyclist? Take a free class from Bike East Bay! Class topics include: urban cycling, theft prevention, adult learn-to-ride, family cycling, bike camping, and others. All classes are currently being taught online, except for Urban Cycling 101 – Day 2 and Adult Learn-to-Ride classes which feature in-person training.

Join the Summer Bike Challenge

The Summer Bike Challenge is a great way to get exercise, have fun, and spend time outdoors with friends and family. From June through August, Challenge participants bike to points of interest on their city’s gameboard, pick up free stuff at our in-person events, and send in pictures for our online Photo Gallery. Weekly Bonus Prize drawings and an iPad Grand Prize giveaway also add to the excitement.

The Summer Bike Challenge is free, fun, and healthy – the perfect summertime activity for people of all ages. Download your city’s gameboard and start biking!

2024 Bay Area Biking and Cycling Events

East Bay Bike Party – Every Second Friday

Date: August 9, 2024 8pm
Location: Varies
An inclusive, social, community-positive bike ride every second Friday of the month open to all skill levels. Rides are casual, with party stops at public spaces along a 10-15 mile route that changes every month. Ride begins and ends at or near BART stations. Attendees are encouraged to express themselves by participating in each ride's theme. Read more

The Bay Ride

Date: September 14, 2024 7:00am
Location: SF Ferry Building (1 Ferry Plaza)
The 10th anniversary of this one-of-a-kind charity bike ride around the Bay includes two routes: a 40-mile ride from San Francisco to Oakland and a 135-mile ride around the entire Bay Area from San Francisco thru the North Bay, East Bay, Peninsula, and then back to San Francisco. Read more

Local Advisory Committees

Do you have a biking concern in your community? Several Contra Costa jurisdictions hold regular traffic safety meetings with citizen members, staff from the Transportation Department, and police personnel. Members of the public are welcome to attend public meetings, provide public comment, review agendas and meeting minutes, and apply for open positions.
