Making Transportation Affordable
|
|
Public transportation helps people get to work, school, the grocery store, medical appointments, social activities, and more. Several programs for income-qualified residents can help make getting around more affordable:
- Clipper START provides single-ride discounts to eligible transit users. Participants receive a 50% discount on BART and all Bay Area bus transit agencies.
- For ADA paratransit riders, the Low-Income Fare Equity (LIFE) Program is now available countywide. Program participants receive up to 10 free rides per month on County Connection LINK, Tri Delta Transit, and WestCAT Paratransit services.
- If having a fun, on-demand, zero-emission way to get around sounds like a good option, take advantage of 511 Contra Costa’s rebate program for purchasing a new e-bike. Applicants with low household incomes are eligible for $300 rebates. The statewide CARB e-bike incentive program also opens soon and will offer e-bike vouchers of up to $2,000 to qualified applicants.

If you currently drive alone to get to work, take advantage of incentives for trying a new commute. Pledge to Try Transit and we’ll send you a $25 Clipper card. Or, switch from a solo drive to biking, walking, carpooling, vanpooling, working from home, or taking transit to work, and receive the $25 Drive Less Incentive.
