BART train fares will increase 1.4 percent July 1, adding an extra nickel or dime to many trips, nothing to the shortest trips, and 15 cents to the longest ones.
The BART Board voted 8-1 to approve the modest fare increase along with its operating budget, which is 8 percent larger than last year’s.
The board opted to stick with a past practice of letting fares increase automatically every two years by a formula linked to the inflation rate. The fare for the longest trip on BART, from Pittsburg-Bay Point to San Francisco Airport, will increase by 15 cents to $11.05. Read the full article.
