Yesterday, the AC Transit board voted 7-0 to reduce weekend and night service in December. In addition, a decision in June to reduce service by 7.2 percent will go into effect on October 31st.
Said AC Transit Director Greg Harper: “We are bleeding profusely. We have no choice but to do this.” The service reductions are expected to save about $11 million and eliminate 90 union jobs.
