Try Transit Offer

Pledge to try transit as an alternative to driving alone to/from work or campus and receive a pre-loaded $25 Clipper card.  Whether you make the switch one day out of the week or five days a week, taking transit can make a difference!

The Try Transit program has two offerings, one for commuters, and a second for college students.

Try Transit to/from Work

You are eligible to receive an incentive if you:

  • Live or work in Contra Costa County,
  • Are 18 years of age or older,
  • Would otherwise drive alone to/from an employment location if this incentive program were not available, and
  • Agree to complete a brief survey to assess the effectiveness of this program.

Try Transit to/from College Campus (Students)

You are eligible to receive an incentive if you:

  • Attend one of the following colleges or schools in Contra Costa County:
    1. CSU Eastbay (Concord Campus)
    2. Contra Costa College
    3. Diablo Valley College Pleasant Hill
    4. Diablo Valley College San Ramon
    5. Los Medanos
    6. Saint Mary’s College
    7. A Contra Costa Adult Education School (West County, Pittsburg, Mt. Diablo, Martinez, Liberty, Acalanes, Antioch)
  • Are enrolled in a minimum of 9 units,
  • Would otherwise drive alone to/from an eligible college or school campus if this incentive program were not available, and
  • Agree to complete a brief survey to assess the effectiveness of this program.

What are the program rules?

  • If you or someone in your household have received any 511 Contra Costa promotion or program incentives in the same July 1 to June 30 funding year, you are not eligible to receive this incentive.
  • This incentive program is available only for your home-to-work/campus commute and/or your work/campus-to-home commute.
  • 511 Contra Costa may request verification from you or your employer of the information you provide.
  • Falsifying any information will disqualify you from all 511 Contra Costa programs and promotions.
  • 511 Contra Costa reserves the right to make any changes to or to terminate this program at any time without prior notification.

Try Transit is made available with funding from Contra Costa Transportation Authority and the Bay Area Air Quality Management District
