Caltrans to hold community meeting on construction plans for Caldecott Tunnel's 4th bore

This Thursday, Dec. 10 at 7 PM, Caltrans will host a community meeting on the upcoming construction of the 4th bore of  the Caldecott Tunnel. Caltrans officials will be on hand to answer questions from the community regarding construction, schedule, time line and community impact.
The meeting will be held at Orinda Community Center, 28 Orinda Way, Orinda.

East Bay Bike Coalition Free Bike Safety Classes Starting Soon!

node_177_user_51_newspaper_ad_300Free bike safety classes from the East Bay Bicycle Coalition are coming to an East Bay city near you soon!  The 3.5 hour Traffic Safety 101 Classroom Workshops are for ages 14 and up and are scheduled through mid November in locations all over the East Bay.  No bike required.  The EBBC has also scheduled two 6 hour long Traffic Safety 101 Road Classes in October and November.

Safeway Relocation

On Thursday, July 30th 511 Contra Costa will be at Safeway’s offices on Ygnacio Valley Road in Walnut Creek to assist employees with their commute planning in preparation for their relocation to Pleasanton.

May 14th marks the Bay Area’s 15th annual Bike to Work Day when nearly 150,000 commuters are expected to pedal to work or school. At 511 Contra Costa, we’d like to encourage you to take part.
On May 14th, volunteers will staff hundreds of Energizer Stations along bike commute routes in all nine Bay Area counties. They’ll provide cyclists with complimentary treats, a reusable goodie bag, bicycle information, and good cheer!
The festivities will kick off with nominations for the Bike Commuter of the Year. Submit a story of a friend or coworker who goes above and beyond in their dedication to bicycle commuting and they will be put in the running to win one of many great bicycle-related prizes. Bike to Work Day 2009 is presented by 511.org and Kaiser Permanente. In Contra Costa, Bike to Work Day is organized by the Bay Area Bicycle Coalition and 511 Contra Costa with funds from the Metropolitan Transportation Commission, County Congestion Management Agencies, Bay Area Air Quality Management District, and corporate sponsors. In-kind support provided by local bike coalitions, cities, municipalities, companies and hundreds of local volunteers.

Free Telework Workshop

511 Contra Costa in partnership with U.S. Department of Labor Women’s Bureau is hosting  a free workshop on ways to implement a Telework Program and/or Compressed Work Week schedules at your worksite. International Expert on Telework and Compressed Work Week Schedules.  Workshop presenters include Elham Shirazi, international expert on telework and compressed work week scheuldes and Jenny Erwin, U.S. Department of Labor Regional Administrator, Women’s Bureau, Region 9 will discuss Flex-Options.
